MISSION
ISAWWA Safety and Emergency Planning Committee is dedicated to the promotion of safe practices by providing training resources and tools for the water community.
GOALS
- Provide a preview of laws and regulations for safety issue and emergency planning.
- Provide policy templates for safety issues
a. Provide relevant trainings, resources, tools.
- Pursue Webinars for training
a. Conduct an OSHA training seminar. Topics to consist of confined spaces/lockout tagout. Estimate needed 5-2 hour webinars
- Develop and post a Water Utility Safety Blog
Goal includes the following:
a. Question of the month
b. Tie to splash, website, newsletters
c. Challenges/gimmicks/gadgets
d. Funding opportunities
e. Help provide information to utilities that can be used to improve consumer confidence.
- Be a more active participant with Water Utility Counsel
- Conduct an Annual Safety and Emergency Planning Conference
- Create a Emergency Response Plan Tabletop competition with prizes at the 2010 ISAWWA Section Meeting
a. Game: “Choose your own emergency response”
b. Involve booths
